About LongRun Farm

 LongRun History.

The land of LongRun Farm has a long and varied history. We know that before the civil war a man by the name of Charles B. Yancey married Mary Jane Davis on March 27th 1850 in Greene County. Sadly only one year later, in 1851, at the age of 26, Mary Jane died in childbirth and was buried with her infant on what is now called LongRun Farm. Records are lost for what happened to the farm until almost 100 years later, in 1941 when Chester Eppard married Mamie Breeden. Chester was a lifelong farmer and he and Mamie raised 7 children in what is currently a small home on the land they built with locally milled poplar and oak. They built many large barns and outbuildings as well. The family all pitched in to raise cattle, hogs and chickens and Chester made apple butter every year. Chester and Mamie were married for 61 years. The farm was purchased by Paul Newman in December of 2018. He renovated the house and barns and today it is available as a place for you to visit, explore, and enjoy.

Paul Newman

Paul has called Virginia home most of his life. He’s happiest on his tractor or working in his garden growing huge tomatoes. He loves sitting around the table, enjoying feasts with his adult children and grandkids and playing briscola after dinner.
